A Little About Me!

A little something about me as a hairdresser that you may not already know. I was not always a curl specialist (in fact, I was not always a hairdresser at all. This is a second career for me but I digress). In my early days of hairdressing, I worked in a wonderful salon in downtown Delray Beach, Florida.  An organic hair salon that specialized in dry cutting. Back in those days, we would straighten most clients’ hair before cutting it.

Every once in a while, I get the opportunity to go back to the skills I learned during those first seven years, and it feels like getting back on a bike again. I was definitely in my flow state in this clip 😅.  As much as I love curly hair, I always love returning to the foundational skills that shaped me as a stylist too.

I don’t cut straight hair very often anymore, mostly just for family and friends. And also on the rare occasion that it would be deemed necessary for a curly hair client (yes, there are times when it is appropriate to straighten curly hair before cutting it — it’s rare, but it happens. If you think this might work for you, let’s have a consult).

Every craft has its roots, and straight hair cutting will always be part of mine. It’s a reminder that good hairdressing, no matter the texture, starts with the same foundation: understanding how hair moves, falls, and lives. And who better to trust with those moments than my best friend, who has been in my corner since the beginning. She is endlessly supportive, wonderfully patient, and honestly the perfect person to pick up the scissors for. I am so grateful for her.  Thank you @  for being such a big part of my world.
